How This Tulsa Nonprofit Is Fighting Food Insecurity—One Block Party at a Time

Tulsa’s food deserts might be closer than you think—some residents are an hour bus ride away from fresh groceries. That’s where Food On The Move comes in.

Founded by Tulsa musician Taylor Hanson and led by CEO Kevin Harper, this nonprofit brings mobile food festivals directly into underserved neighborhoods. We’re talking:

  • 30-pound bags of fresh produce
  • Meals from local food trucks
  • Live DJs, dancing, and community vibes
  • Health, job, and mental wellness resources

And now, they’re launching an urban farm and aquaponics facility right here in Tulsa—bringing innovation, education, and workforce development to the fight against food insecurity.

💬 “If we’re going to fix food insecurity, we’ve got to go all the way back to the seed.”
